Helga D Storbekken attended the Strykejernet Art School in Oslo, Norway, from 1985 - 1987. She continued studies in 1992 at the New School of Painting (DNM), associated with Oslo Photo Art School. She studied graphic design at the Mercantile Institute (MI) in Oslo. Helga now works from her own studio in Oslo.
Helga combines painting with photography. Over the years she has exhibited her work in many parts of Norway, both alone and with other artists. Her works have been purchased by various companies and offices, among these Active Real Estate in Oslo, Canon Norge AS, Hedmark County, municipalities of Tolga and Tynset, and the Moss municipal cultural administration (for their award of honor).

Helga has held numerous art courses around Norway, as well as at the renowned Old Town School (Gamlebyen) in Oslo. Since 2008, she has led an annual art project at Hallegarbakken Elementary School, where pupils create decorations and decorate their school. Helga is also involved in a school art project in her hometown, Tolga, in the Østerdalen valley in eastern Norway. 

She has been guest speaker and conducted teacher workshops in various counties around Norway.
In 2013, Helga was on the panel of judges for the Norwegian Culture School of Visual Arts' prestigious scholarship award.
She currently operates the TØYsentralen Gallery, with locations in Oslo and in Tolga, and leads exhibit-projects in Østerdalen.
Helga has worked several years at the Norwegian Artists' Association's gallery of contemporary art.
